Next we will walk to the Forbidden City. The Great Wall was continuously built from the 3rd century BC to the 17th century AD on the northern border of China as the great military defense project of successive Chinese Empires. Today, the wall is still impressive at 3,750 miles in length, stretching from the Bohai Sea to the Gobi Desert. The Great Wall embodies unparalleled significance as the national symbol for safeguarding the security of the country and Chinese people. After lunch we will visit the Dingling Tomb. Constructed for the 13 emperors of the Ming Dynasty, the Ming tombs follow the precepts of traditional Chinese geomancy and fengshui theory. They feature rich decoration of stone statues and carvings and tiles with dragon motifs, illustrating the development of the funerary architecture of the Ming Dynasty. Next we will make a photo stop at the 2008 Olympic Venues of Bird Nest and Water Cube.

The natural landscape of hills and open water is combined with artificial features such as pavilions, halls, palaces, temples and bridges to form a harmonious ensemble of outstanding aesthetic value. After lunch we will take the second class high speed train to Xian (about 5 hours). Xian is the ancient capital city of China and the starting point of Silk Road.

The 8,000-plus life-sized figures are arranged in vaults to guard the tomb of Qin Shihuang, the first emperor of China. After lunch we will visit the Bell & Drum Tower Square, the Great Mosque and Xian Muslim Quarter. The Muslim Quarter of Xian covers several blocks with an estimated 60,000 Muslims in the region. There are about seven ancient mosques in the area, among which the Great Mosque built in 742 is most famous and popular among all. After breakfast we will visit the specially selected garden, Garden of the Master. Being the most exquisite and the best-preserved garden in all old residential gardens in Suzhou, the most striking feature of Garden of the Master of the Nets is its use of space. Small as its size is, the scale of the building is large, but nothing appears cramped. Then we will visit the silk factory to see a display of the life-cycle of the silk worm and demonstrations of how the silk is harvested from the cocoons and eventually woven into fabric. We will then have a cruise on Grand Canal which was constructed in the Sui Dynasty (AD581-618) as a waterway to ship the produce of East China to the capital city. What Our Customers Say About GCT

We have returned safe, sound and very pleased. This is just a brief note to thank you for your hospitality, care and attention for details. We were a bit anxious before starting this tour but thanks to your organizing skills we have returned with great bundles of very happy memories. Your guides are all wonderfully dedicated individuals. They made our stay and movements easy, enjoyable and educational.

A small group from Toronto is soon departing for a 20 day tour with you. I have no doubt they would benefit from your expertise just as much as we did, or more. We have already talked about your organization and its people to a number of our friends. We will be happy to talk to any one else at your suggestion.

With all the best wishes
