As the culture center of Sichuan province, all religions are practiced in Chengdu. However, the dominating religion in Chengdu is still Buddhism. Mt. Emei is one of the four most famous Buddhist Holy Mountains in China. The largest stone carved Buddha in China is in Leshan, a suburban county of Chengdu. Chengdu is also the cradle of Taoism in China. In Han Dynasty, Zhangling created Wudoumi Taoism in Heming Mountain, Chengdu City, which symbolized the birth of Taoism in China. Taoist temples in Chengdu include Mt. Qingcheng, Qingyang Taoist Temple. In 1881, Christianity was introduced into Chengdu. Methodist Episcopal Church, Society of Friends, Protestant Episcopal Church and Baptist Church all sent their missionaries to Chengdu. At present, there are 5 major Christianity Churches in Chengdu, including Shangxiang Church, Enguang Church, Jintang Wufeng Gospel Hall, Dujiangyan Gospel Hall and Luodai Gospel Hall.
 
Church (Catholic & Christian) in Chengdu 
The earliest missionary coming to China was Morrison. He was in Guangzhou in 1807 and began his teaching in Guangzhou City. After 1876, more and more missionaries came to the coastal areas in China. In 1881, Christianity was introduced into Chengdu. Methodist Episcopal Church, Society of Friends, Protestant Episcopal Church and Baptist Church 
 
Buddhist Temples in Chengdu 
It is said that Buddhism was introduced into Chengdu in Han Dynasty and came to its peak time in Sui and Tang Dynasties. Daci Temple, Zhaojue Temple, Wenshu Monastery and Baoguang Temple were all built in Tang Dynasty. There are three Buddhism schools in Chengdu: Zen, Jodo and Esoteric Buddhism. The three schools co-exist in Chengdu
 
Taoist (Daoist) Temples in Chengdu 
Chengdu is the cradle of Taoism in China. In Han Dynasty, Zhangling created Wudoumi Taoism in Heming Mountain, Chengdu City, which symbolized the birth of Taoism in China. In Tang Dynasty, the royal family honored Laotse as their agnatio, which greatly prompted the development of Taoism. Qingyang Taoist Temple was first built in Tang Dynasty
 
Mosques (Masjid) in Chengdu 
Chengdu Huangcheng Mosque is a famous Mosque in Southwest China. The Mosque is close the royal palace ruins of a dynasty in local history, thus it is called Huangcheng Mosque. The Mosque was built in 16th Century and kept in repair in 1858. In 1917, the Mosque was destroyed heavily by wars. Although it was repaired later, the scale was reduced
 
Confucius Temples in Chengdu 
Chongzhou Confucius Temple is one of the four best preserved Confucius Temples in Sichuan Province. The original building, built in Ming Dynasty, was destroyed by wars. The existing building was rebuilt in Qing Dynasty. It covers an area of over 10 mu, with the building area of 2,400 square meters. The main buildings consist of the screen wall, Lingxing
